  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (ground)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth to create a roux.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until thickened.
  4. Stir in cheeses until melted and combined. Add seasonings for flavor.
  5. Fold cooked pasta and mashed butternut squash into the cheese sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden.
