  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened (for buttercream)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp strong brewed coffee, cooled (for buttercream)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for buttercream)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two round baking pans by greasing them.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in cooled coffee and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  5. For the buttercream, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and mix in brewed coffee and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Once cooled, layer cake with caramel sauce and buttercream before frosting the top and sides.
